National Disability Co-ordination Officer Program, has a definition of disability and support services in the area. Interest in transistion of children from school to further studies or employment
Learning Disability Network has some great general information and information that will help you advocate for your child at school
SPELD Victoria , support for dyslexia and other learning difficulties, conducts assesments, provides tutoring and holds seminars
Australian learning difficulty association (ALDA) national group, with branches in each state, website provides information on legislation and other general information.

Why am I getting involved ?

I am a mum, one of my three children has been diagnosed with dyslexia and CAPD (central auditory processing difficulties), sometimes this is called specific learning difficulties. Although I have a lot of support from my family and friends, I have sometimes felt quite alone and often worried and drained.

I recently went to a conference about engaging and empowering children with learning difficulties. At the end of the day I asked if there were any support groups for parents in Melbourne's Southern region. The answer was no.

So let's get together to share our experiences and give each other support to help our kids get a fair go.
